#MAINSTAGE 3 WINDOWS UPGRADE#
I will upgrade my Win tablet currently running 8.1 to Win 10 as soon as it is available as there is nothing critical on it and I will welcome back the elements of the classic Win 7 interface that are supposedly being re-introduced. until there is about 1 month left allowing plenty of time to review the feedback from early adopters and any MS fixes to be released if required. I will hold off on upgrading my Win 7 machine running Cantabile etc. I plan to upgrade some non music machines to Win 10 about 3 months after the 12 month free upgrade clock starts ticking and see how that goes. There will also be a Win 10 version for tablets and another version for phones. I would expect that going forward MS will try to have only 1 supported OS version in the market, in the same way as Apple only supports the current OS. Win 7 is now in legacy support phase only and MS plans to do the same as soon as is practical with 8.1. The announced MS strategy is to get all users onto the same version of Windows so MS is making the upgrade to Win 10 free for 12 months from official release to all Win 7 and Win 8.1 users. The question of upgrading to Windows 10 came up in another thread and will be topical over the next 12 months so I have started a new thread for this discussion.
